Did you hear that? Not the words but the sound. How his voice quivered. Listen to the fear he exhaled, it's like a silenced scream. Tears translate to rhythm. Rhythm of his speech, his gestures, his vocal textures, the conjectures. Listen to how little we sense make. Listen to the colours from the moments of clarity as he clears his throat, turning into individual notes.

Can you hear the beat of the spinning world? Can you hear how they correspond to his melodic tunes? It's... It's like a tum rumpahpahrum tum, then a pause, then a tss bah boppadee doo.

Listen to the earth rumble and a rock would tumble as the cliffs, they crumble to the warm floor on which we trample. Listen to us run, first in chaos then towards a single direction. Listen to us run away from the darkness that creeps beyond the horizon. Forever running to a place we shall never reach.

Listen to our voices, trembling with fear and clouds of doubt and guilt as we reassure ourselves with empty promisess. Listen to us lie and believe in deceptions we know untrue. 'Almost there, almost there'. Can you hear how close we are? How close to the certainty of death that its cold embrace sings a welcoming hymn.

Did you hear that? The sounds of the world ending.

I wrote this during one of our monetary economics lectures. Talk about sounds of the world ending, right?
