We're not happily miserable

I miss hearing voices like this in the media. Everyone's so determined on being happy and positive all the time, as if it's such a terrible, lowly, weak thing to be upset or fail to hide the fact that you're upset. But that stigma certainly doesn't help the rest of us feel anymore positive about everything, if anything it makes us feel like there's something fundamentally wrong with us. I don't think it's wrong not to want to smile all the time, I don't think it's right to feel like we're responsible in the creation of other people's misery just because we don't smile or laugh very often and emit positive energy unto the world.

The messages we get from most youth oriented content is that we shouldn't be afraid of being ourselves but at the same time it instills you with the importance of always being positive. So should I be myself or conform and "be happy" like everyone else?
