Animals are People Too!

So where do you stand on the issue? I've had conversations with people about the position of man in the universe. Some believe that man is a much more intelligent being when compared to animals therefore should not be put on the same par, some even to the extent that they believe we are free to utilize everything in the world (like plants, animals and minerals) for our own benefit as long as it doesn't count as exploitation. In which case, how ironic that it is man himself who determines which acts are considered exploitation.

Others believe that man too are animals therefore we should treat our brothers with mutual respect. But at the same time, there are hierarchies in the animal kingdom where the powerful will dominate like lions (with their strength and killer instinct) and gazelles so isn't it just as fair that we use our advantage (technology) to dominate over other animals as we do in the world? Of course those lions don't exactly perform dangerous experiments to test mane enhancing products on the gazelles...

Or maybe the real question here is, why am I watching so much animal planet? I really should get out more...
