"Voices leaking from a sad cafe. Smiling faces try to understand. I saw a shadow touch a shadow's hand on Bleecker Street"
So I'm really dim, so it took me listening to a Simon & Garfunkel song on loop for hours without really understanding what it means for me to realise just how alone we all are in the world. We can live our whole lives without having another soul understand what is on our minds. Not even trust that garners from a lifetime bond could ensure that they will know who we are. Hell, can we even make sure we understand ourselves? We look at a poet's work and read it over and over with a certain interpretation in our head but it could end up that we got it all wrong. And this person whose work we so proudly identify to be 'story of my life' is yet another stranger of whom we know very little. I'm tired of talking without being understood and I'm tired of listening to people and never really understanding what they're saying.
